Soda Lime is a granular chemical compound primarily used to absorb carbon dioxide (CO₂) from breathing systems in anesthesia machines, closed-circuit ventilators, and submarine or diving applications. It is essential for maintaining safe respiratory environments by removing exhaled CO₂.

  • Calcium Hydroxide (Ca(OH)₂) – 70–80%
  • Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) – 2–5% (activator)
  • Water content – 14–20%
  • May include color indicator (e.g., ethyl violet) for exhaustion signal
